It recently occurred to me that I am going to need an author photo. This presented a bit of an issue for a few reasons:
- Most of the pictures of me that I actually like involve me making a weird face
- The pictures I’ve used for professional purposes are pretty darn old (and I harshly judge those who are still using their head shots from before they lost their hair, went gray, or developed wrinkles)
- A lot of my pictures have my dog in them
So I turned to my friend Leah and asked if we could have a photo shoot. She always makes me look good. We got some good author photo options, but as per usual, I ended up acting like a goon and taking a bunch of goofy pictures — and some with the dog.
I brought the dog to distract me from getting self-conscious about the camera. It didn’t really work, but she’s photogenic…so we’ve got that going for us.
I decided to climb into a corn field. Weird things happened to my hair, but on the bright side, if there is ever a remake of The Children of the Corn, I’m in.
And then we saw an Ermine. I saw a flash of movement in a stone wall and I assumed it was a chipmunk. But then I looked again and this curious little guy was poking his head out.
I did this to my poor, understanding dog near what appears to be a post-apocalyptic cairn.
And then I amused myself by making faces like this…
